ssued French rider Cyril Despres (to TM) race category of motorcycles in the Dakar Rally in 2011 primarily in Argentina and Chile after the registration-minute delay on team-mate, Portuguese Ruben Faria, winner of the first phase.

Faria has been punished by adding minutes to his time for speeding, making it retreats to second place 31 seconds ahead of teammate, according to the testimony of the organizing committee for the race on Sunday.

Still Spaniard Marc Coma is running a distant third, 46 seconds on Despres and 15 seconds from Faria.

The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (VW) has launched a campaign to defend its title, finished first in the first phase of the car category.

Sainz fought race distance between the cities of Victoria and Cordoba Alorzintinettin amid heavy rains that made it difficult for the tour in two hours and 18 minutes and 32 seconds.

Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel (BMW), which won the Dakar Rally 9 times before, in the second place, one minute and 31 seconds from Sainz.
